The Wenchi police in the Bono Region have arrested and placed in custody a farmer in connection with the tragic murder of his sibling at Amponsahkrom, a farming community in the Wenchi Municipality.

The suspect, only known as Gadafi, allegedly murdered his sibling, Osama, 47 years old, also a farmer, at a shed at Amponsahkrom.

According to Mr Felix Gaabanzu, the Assembly Member of the Amponsahkrom Electoral Area, the incident happened on Thursday, January 8, and the body was found on his farm on Friday, January 9, 2026.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Gaabanzu explained that the deceased left home for the farm, however he did not return. He added that the community mobilised a search party and discovered the body at his farm, close to a shed belonging to the suspect.

“The suspect went into hiding after the incident; however, the community arrested him at his hideout and handed him over to the police for investigations, Mr Gaabanzu stated.

He said the incident had since thrown the Amponsahkrom farming community into a state of fear and called on the police to be expeditious in their investigations.

Mr Gaabanzu said the body of the deceased was buried on Sunday January 11, in accordance with Islamic faith, and urged the residents to remain calm and support police investigations.
