Brake failure horror at Bayaard: Eight-year-old among five fighting for their lives

Panic swept through Bayaard in the Ablekuma North Municipality after a terrifying road accident left five people, including an eight-year-old boy, in critical condition.
Eyewitnesses say the incident occurred when a Toyota Tundra pickup truck reportedly lost control after suffering brake failure.
The vehicle is alleged to have veered off course, smashing into several parked cars and traders operating along the busy stretch, triggering chaos and distress among residents and passersby.
Moments after the crash, the Ablekuma North Ambulance Station was alerted. Paramedics arrived swiftly, carried out emergency triage at the scene, and worked quickly to stabilise the injured before transporting them to Akawe Hospital and the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for advanced medical care.
Residents praised the rapid response of the ambulance team, crediting their professionalism and speed with preventing fatalities, especially among vulnerable victims such as the young child.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, while the community rallies in hope and prayer for the recovery of those battling for their lives.
