Marta Vieira da Silva, the legendary Brazilian footballer and six-time FIFA Women’s Footballer of the Year, has announced her engagement to her partner and Orlando Pride teammate, Carrie Lawrence.

The couple, who have been together since 2022, shared their exciting news on Instagram, revealing that they got engaged during a romantic picnic where Marta proposed.

The engagement was celebrated with a series of heartfelt photos, including one where Marta is seen placing a ring on Carrie’s finger.

This joyous moment marks a new chapter for the couple as they prepare to tie the knot.

Marta, 38, recently competed in the 2024 Olympics, representing Brazil in what she confirmed would be her final international tournament.

Despite her best efforts, Brazil finished as runners-up, losing to the United States in the final. Carrie, 27, who has played for the U.S. U19 team, was there to support Marta and her team throughout the tournament.

In April, Marta announced her decision to retire from international football, stating that 2024 would be her last year with the Brazilian national team.

She expressed peace with her decision, looking forward to the future of the sport and the development of young athletes.

Following her participation in the Olympics, Marta has been granted an extended break and is expected to rejoin her Orlando Pride teammates later this month.

The couple's engagement marks a personal milestone for Marta as she transitions into the next phase of her life, both on and off the field.
