Bibiani GoldStars are set to make their long-awaited CAF Champions League debut this Saturday, September 20, when they host Algerian powerhouse JS Kabylie at the Accra Sports Stadium.

While the Miners would have preferred the familiar roar of Dun’s Park in Bibiani, CAF regulations have forced them to relocate to the capital—a move that strips them of their traditional home advantage.

Head coach Frimpong Manso remains optimistic despite the venue change, emphasizing the importance of mental readiness and tactical adaptation.
“If you are used to a certain home ground, like in Bibiani, we’ve been playing there week in, week out,” Manso told Joy Sports. “But at the Accra Sports Stadium, we only come when we are playing against Hearts of Oak or one of the Accra teams. We’ll have the opportunity to train twice before the match, and that will help us understand the pitch and give us confidence for Saturday.”

GoldStars have relocated their preparations to Accra, hoping to acclimate quickly and harness the energy of local supporters.

JS Kabylie arrive with a wealth of experience and a reputation for resilience. The Algerian side are two-time CAF Champions League winners and are making their 18th appearance in the competition. With over 30 seasons of continental football under their belt, Kabylie represent a stern test for the Ghanaian debutants.

A strong first-leg result will be crucial for GoldStars, who travel to Algeria for the return fixture on September 27. The aggregate winner will advance to face either East End Lions (Sierra Leone) or US Monastir (Tunisia) in the next round.
With national pride and continental dreams on the line, GoldStars will need discipline, belief, and a touch of brilliance to overcome one of Africa’s most seasoned sides.
