Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito says it would be a dream come true to guide the Porcupine Warriors to the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup title.
Kotoko will represent Ghana in this year’s competition after edging Golden Kick FC 2-1 to lift the FA Cup last season. Their campaign begins with a preliminary-round clash against Nigeria’s Kwara United, with the first leg set for September 21 at the Accra Sports Stadium and the return fixture on September 28.
Speaking ahead of the tie, Zito appealed for unity and support from the club’s fan base.
“Going into Africa is not easy, so I am pleading with the fans to stay united and support the team,” he told Asempa FM.
Zito, who won the Confederation Cup as a Kotoko player, revealed his desire to replicate that success in the dugout.
“I played and won Africa, so I will be happy to win this tournament, but it must start with the fans coming together. The target is to get into the money zone, but we must first win the game against Kwara United.”
Should Kotoko advance, they will face Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club in the second round—a daunting prospect but one that could mark the start of a memorable continental journey.
