The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has agreed to increase the number of teams at the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations from 8 to 12.

The Executive Committee approved the proposal to expand the tournament to give more opportunities to more countries.

CAF President Ahmad Ahmad confirmed the new move after Wednesday's meeting in Cairo.
