The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially launched the countdown to Africa’s biggest football competition, announcing that only 100 days remain until the 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) kicks off in Morocco.
For the first time in 37 years, Morocco will host the finals, welcoming 24 nations and millions of fans from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026. The tournament will be staged across six host cities—Rabat, Casablanca, Fes, Tangier, Marrakech, and Agadir—featuring matches in nine modern stadiums.
The 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire set unprecedented records with more than 1.5 billion television viewers and 2.4 billion digital streams, cementing its status as one of the world’s most-watched tournaments. Organisers expect Morocco 2025 to surpass those milestones, underlining AFCON’s surging global appeal.
Defending champions Côte d’Ivoire will seek to retain their crown in the 35th edition of a competition that dates back to 1957, but they will face stern competition from Africa’s finest.
To mark the milestone, CAF unveiled a 100-day commemorative poster, intensifying anticipation among fans across the continent.
Morocco, which recently hosted the 2024 Women’s AFCON and the 2025 U-17 AFCON, has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to stage world-class tournaments. The Kingdom is also preparing to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, further cementing its status as a global football hub.
With its mix of state-of-the-art facilities, cultural richness, and renowned hospitality, Morocco 2025 promises to be more than just a football tournament—it is set to be a celebration of African unity and sporting excellence.
