The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has officially unveiled a new, redesigned TotalEnergies CAF Champions League trophy, marking a bold and modern chapter in the history of Africa’s top club competition.

The reveal took place on Thursday, May 30, 2025, at TotalEnergies' South African headquarters in Johannesburg, just days before the first leg of the 2024/25 final between Mamelodi Sundowns and Pyramids FC.

The unveiling ceremony featured African football legends such as Lucas Radebe, Teko Modise, and Siphiwe Tshabalala, as well as senior CAF officials and representatives from TotalEnergies.

According to CAF, the new trophy represents more than a design update—it embodies modernization, unity, cultural heritage, and fierce competition, aligning with CAF’s broader strategy to rebrand and elevate African football under the vision of President Dr. Patrice Motsepe.

“This reveal reflects our bold steps toward an exciting African club football environment. With this, we aim to elevate the stature of African club competitions to global prominence,” said CAF General Secretary Véron Mosengo-Omba.

The new trophy design features a sleek interplay of silver and gold, symbolizing both rivalry and respect, with a golden sphere at the top adorned with African motifs, signifying victory and continental pride.

Olagoke Aluko, MD/CEO of TotalEnergies Marketing South Africa, emphasized the company’s continued investment in African sports and unity:

This milestone moment comes just before the much-anticipated 2024/25 CAF Champions League final kicks off on Saturday, June 1. South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns will host Egypt’s Pyramids FC in Pretoria, with the second leg scheduled for June 8 in Cairo.

One of the two clubs will become the first to lift the newly minted trophy, adding extra excitement to an already thrilling finale.

The redesign places African football’s most prestigious prize on par with global standards—a fitting symbol of the continent’s footballing ambition and excellence.
