Bibiani GoldStars have officially begun their journey to Algeria for the second leg of their 2025/26 CAF Champions League preliminary round clash against JS Kabylie, with the squad traveling in two separate batches.
The first contingent departed Ghana on Wednesday night, while the second group is scheduled to leave on Friday, as the Miners prepare for a high-stakes encounter on Sunday, September 28, at the Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium in Tizi Ouzou.
GoldStars trail 2–0 on aggregate following a first-leg defeat at the Accra Sports Stadium, and must produce a spirited performance to avoid an early exit from the competition. A win by three clear goals would see them advance, while a two-goal margin would force extra time.
Despite the uphill task, the team remains focused and determined, with interim coach Nana Yaw Amankwah leading preparations in the absence of a substantive head coach following Frimpong Manso’s dismissal.
“The team is traveling in two batches to ensure proper coordination and readiness for the match. We are focused and ready to make a strong impact in Tizi Ouzou,” a club spokesperson said.
Victory would send GoldStars into the second preliminary round, where they would face Moroccan giants Wydad AC, one of Africa’s most decorated clubs. Defeat, however, would mark the end of their maiden CAF Champions League campaign.
