A leading member of  the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ken Dzirasah has tasked Former President John Dramani Mahama to bring the young boys around him to order.

According to the former Deputy Speaker of Parliament, former President Mahama is surrounded by some of the most disrespectful youth in the NDC who constantly insult the elders of the party.

Mr Dzirasah added that the conduct of these young politicians who stop at nothing to insult elders of the party who criticize ex President Mahama will make it difficult for the latter to attract new voters ahead of the 2020 elections.

The former South Tongu MP in an interview with Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Starr FM stated that the disrespect meted out to some elders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) including Mr. Kojo Yankah is most condemnable.

“When I said it will be difficult to market John Mahama some of the young boys took me to the cleaners, they decribed me and other well meaning members of the party as belonging to the evil cult, fortunately former President Mahama issued a disclaimer and said he didn’t endorse this kind of thing. He has to do more because they are showing gross disrespect to very senior members.

“They go about insulting everybody, I know they will take me to the cleaners again, in 1993 when we were working hard for the party I believe some of them who are insulting were toddlers, some of them could be grandchildren of the elders in the party. At least what we should be targeting is decorum, we should establish a regime of respect for the elderly it is only then that when they also grow the young ones will respect them.”

NDC Volta stalwarts, James Victor Gbeho, Ken Dzirasah and Richard Quashigah recently called on members of the party and its grassroots, to support Prof. Joshua Alabi to become the next flag bearer.

In a meeting with supporters of the NDC in Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region, Ambassador Gbeho said: “My brother (Hon Ken. Dzirasah) and I sat down one afternoon by the riverside in Sogakope. We thought a lot about our party. We thought a lot about the younger generation. And we asked ourselves who can lead us now? After consultation, we agreed that our best hope was in no other person than Professor Joshua Alabi.”

Meanwhile, The NDC has set 7 December 2018 for its presidential primaries ahead of the 2020 polls.

Mr. Mahama who has made an official announcement to contest the flagbearer slot for the NDC will have to beat competition from former UPSA vice chancellor Professor Joshua Alabi, Second deputy speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, former NHIA boss Sylvester Mensah and his former Trade minister Dr. Ekwow Spio Garbrah, among others.
