Cameroon’s President Paul Biya has rewarded the Cameroon national team with a €30,000 bonus per player following their qualification for the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The decision, taken in collaboration with the Minister of Sports, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, is intended to recognise the Indomitable Lions’ achievement and boost morale as the tournament enters its decisive phase.
Cameroon booked their place in the last eight with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over South Africa, a result that underlined their resilience and experience in knockout football.
Each player is set to receive around 18.18 million CFA francs, a significant sum that reflects the importance the country places on success at major continental competitions.
Performance-based bonuses have long been part of Cameroon’s football culture, often used as both recognition and motivation when the national team reaches key milestones.
With a quarter-final showdown against Morocco looming, the financial reward is expected to further lift spirits within the squad as they chase a sixth AFCON title.
Cameroon are among the most successful nations in the tournament’s history, and the message from the country’s leadership is clear: strong performances on the pitch will continue to be backed with tangible support.
