Ghana and West Ham midfielder has had a torrid second season at English Premier League side West Ham United and this has led former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher to brand his season as below par as compared to his debut campaign.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher reflected on Kudus' dip in form:
“Last season, he was fantastic. He just hasn’t looked the same player this season.”
Kudus burst onto the Premier League scene with 14 goal contributions in his debut season, showcasing flair, versatility, and technical brilliance.
However, he has managed just seven goal contributions (four goals and three assists) in 30 league appearances this season.
Despite the regression in stats, Carragher remains optimistic about the Ghanaian’s long-term potential:
“Kudus might think this is an off-season for him, and last season was the real Kudus. If we get that type of player again, it’s a good sign.”
The former Ajax and Right to Dream Academy talent remains one of West Ham’s most valuable assets.
However, Carragher hinted that financial constraints could force the club into selling:
“I won’t be surprised if there’s a change there somewhere because West Ham need the money.”
This comes amid reported interest from Atletico Madrid and the Saudi Pro League, further fueling speculation that Kudus could be on the move this summer.
