The court of arbitration for sports (CAS) has set a date for the ruling on the chaotic Caf champions league final.

It will be recalled that on 31st May this year, the second leg of the Caf champions league final ended abruptly.

Wydad walked off in protest when its equalizing goal was disallowed for an incorrect offside call. No video review was available, but neither side was told before the game the system was not working.

The Confederation of African Football had ordered the second-leg game to be replayed in a neutral country during July.

According to CAS, Esperance de Tunis and Moroccan outfit Wydad Casablanca have both lodged petitions with them over Caf's decision to replay the finals of the Champions League.

Wydad's petition simply reads that the club "requests that the Challenged Decision be set aside and, consequently, to be declared winner of the 2018/2019 CAF Champions League and to receive the prize money allocated to the winner."

The counter claim from Esperance is similar as the club wants "relief that the challenged decision be considered as null and void and, consequently, to be declared winner of the 2018/2019 CAF Champions League.

"To keep the trophy and medals awarded on 31 May 2019 and to order CAF to pay the prize money attributed to the winner."

The clubs and Caf have agreed a timetable for the case to be considered by Cas and a final decision will be issued, at the latest, on 31 July.
