Although many have condemned the snatching of ballot papers in Parliament by Carlos Ahenkorah, others are of the views that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) must celebrate the ‘heroic exploits’ of the Tema West MP.
Ahenkorah displayed political acrobats by snatching some ballot papers during the election of a new Speaker for the 8th Parliament.
In an attempt to disrupt the election process, Mr Ahenkora, with lightning-fast speed, snatched some of the ballot papers on the blindside of the Parliamentary officials when counting was underway.
Carlos after grabbing the ballot papers tried to run out of the chamber but luck eluded him as he was overpowered by some colleagues.
With stiff resistance and the help of some security officials, the papers were retrieved from his hands and giving back to the election officials.
His conduct has since engineered widely criticisms towards the governing party.
Reacting to the incident, however, an outspoken member of the NPP and social commentator, Patrick Kwarteng Sarpong, popularly known as P.K. Sarpong said the Tema West lawmaker is a hero. To him, Mr Ahenkorah must be “celebrated” and not “castigated”.
“Carlos Ahenkora’s heroic exploits must be celebrated, not castigated!” He wrote on Facebook.
