CF Montréal striker Prince Osei Owusu has expressed heartfelt gratitude after making his debut for Ghana in last Thursday’s international friendly against Japan at the Toyota Stadium.

The 28-year-old forward came on as a second-half substitute in the Black Stars’ 2-0 defeat, marking his first appearance in national colors — a moment he described as unforgettable.

“Yesterday, I had the incredible honor of making my debut for the Ghana national team. It's a moment I will carry with me forever,” Owusu shared on social media.

“Representing the homeland of my parents fills me with immense pride, and wearing the Ghanaian colors is a privilege I will never take for granted.”

Owusu also thanked his family, coaches, teammates, and fans for their support throughout his journey, adding that the experience has only deepened his commitment to the national cause.

The US-based striker, who has impressed in Major League Soccer, will be hoping to build on his debut and earn a more prominent role as Ghana continues preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

The Black Stars return to action on Tuesday, November 18, with a second friendly against South Korea in Seoul — a chance for Owusu and other newcomers to stake their claim in Otto Addo’s evolving squad.
