Sudan head coach Kwesi Appiah says his side will give their all as they battle for the bronze medal at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The Falcons of Jediane face Senegal’s Lions of Teranga in the third-place playoff at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala today, August 29, at 15:00 GMT.

Sudan fell to Madagascar in the semifinals, but Appiah believes the playoff carries huge importance—not just for his players but for the Sudanese people.

“We want to bring smiles to the Sudanese, especially at a time when our country is going through such hardship. This game is very important to us, and we will give everything to win the medal,” Appiah said.

The former Ghana coach added that his squad has grown more cohesive during the tournament.

“We are more united now than we were in the first game. We have learned a lot throughout the tournament and believe we can put on a great show.”

Sudan will be chasing their second-ever CHAN medal, having previously finished third when they hosted the competition in 2011.
