Charles Kwablan Akonnor has expressed admiration for Sudan coach Kwesi Appiah, describing him as "tactically aware" of modern football.
Akonnor, who served as Appiah's assistant during their time with the Ghana national team, highlighted Appiah's impressive ability to revitalize the Sudanese squad.
Under Appiah’s leadership, the Falcons of Jediane have secured four victories in seven matches, positioning themselves two points clear of Senegal in Group B of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
They are also currently second in Group F of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Appiah was at the helm during the recent goalless draw between Sudan and Ghana at the Accra Sports Stadium, showcasing his tactical prowess.
The two teams will face off again on Tuesday, October 15, in Libya.
“He is as good as he was with the Ghana national team. He may not say much, but he is well aware of the tactical trends in modern football,” Akonnor told Joy Sports.
He added, “Anyone who claims he lacks knowledge is mistaken. He has transformed this Sudan team into a fearless and confident side, which speaks volumes about his coaching capabilities.”
