Chelsea FC on Friday night emerged victorious at home  in a very important fixture which could see them get the nod to potentially partake in the 2025/2026 UEFA Champions League competition as they won 1-0 against Manchester United.

Marc Cucurella, making history last night as the only defender to reach 7 goals in all competitions as a defender came up clutch to score the only goal of the night through a beautifully curated cross from captain Reece James after the latter dazzled so well, turning rapidly to get away from his marker to launch such wonderful cross to find the hardworking defender.

The win catapulted Chelsea into a fine position, adjusting two places up to the fourth place, being at par with Newcastle United and Aston Villa on points (6) respectively, leaving Newcastle United with a game in hand as they set their sights on their 37th game of the season against second-placed Arsenal who are on 68 points, on Sunday May 18.

However, title predecessors, Manchester City who are 6th on the log, on the hand will be looking to also fight for a place in Europe’s top competition, the UEFA Champions League next season. They will be playing against AFC Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, 20th May to continue in their quest to defend their place in European football, to possibly take it to the extra stage in the coming season as they only reached the round 16 playoffs this season and got eliminated by quarter finalists, Real Madrid.

Chelsea will be vying for a place in the Champions League next season and the win against Manchester United seems like a pedestal to potentially take them to another level of glory after two seasons of absence in Europe’s most prestigious competition, the UEFA Champions League.

The current very youthful Chelsea team just like the one that won the Champions League title in the 2020/2021 season will be looking to get their names etched into the history books as they keep fighting to earn a spot at the biggest stage in the coming season.

Chelsea in their final fixture will face 7th placed Nottingham Forest who are on 62 points and are left with two games to play.
Nottingham Forest will face off against West Ham at the London Stadium tomorrow, May 18– they will also be vying for a spot in top European competitions, possibly the Champions League or the Europa League also.

The coming weeks will be a very imperative one amongst the Premier League’s top six teams.
