Striker Akwasi Asante has joined Chester on a permanent contract from Tamworth FC, the club announced on Friday.

The 26-year has signed an 18-month contract after being rewarded following a scintillating month-long loan spell at the club.

The Dutch-born Ghanaian striker netted five goals in three matches including a sensational hat-trick on his debut against Darlington.

Chester statement read:  "Chester FC are delighted to announce the permanent signing of striker Akwasi Asante from Tamworth FC.

"We would like to acknowledge and formally place on record our thanks to Stuart Murphy who assisted the move through his financial contribution."

Asante has a fine record in non league football, scoring 17 goals in 39 appearances to spearhead Solihull Moors to the National League North title under former Chester boss Marcus Bignot back in 2016.
