President of Upper East Regional House of Chiefs Naba Sigri Bewong says chiefs in the three regions of the north are ready to release resources to government for the implementation of the SADA Zone Master plan document.

He stressed that the Northern Savannah Ecological Zone has more than half of the country’s land resources untapped and traditional rulers in the region are ready to release lands for development.

According to Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), the master plan is the best strategic document and if lifted into the National Development Plan would fast track transformation in the area.

He, therefore, urged heads of political parties running for the 2016 polls to commit to the SADA master plan since it is the result of extensive consultation and research work in the area.

He stressed that every area in the SADA Zone comprising of Upper West, Upper East, Northern and parts of Brong Ahafo and the Volta regions have been mapped out in the SADA master plan.

According to Naba Sigri Bewong, who is also the Paramount Chief of Sekoti, government for over two years has not committed any funding to the SADA zone as stipulated by establishing Act.

The situation, he hinted, is increasing inequality and extreme poverty in the Northern Savannah Ecological Zone.

He noted that already the document demanding the passage of an LI to operationalize the SADA Act 805(2015) has been laid before the Attorney General.
