American R&B superstar Chris Brown has been granted bail by a London court after being charged with grievous bodily harm in connection with a violent nightclub incident dating back to 2023.

The court set bail at an eye-watering £5 million, allowing the singer to continue with his scheduled world tour, which kicks off next month.

Brown, 36, is facing serious legal trouble after he was accused of carrying out an “unprovoked attack” on a music producer at Tape nightclub in London’s upscale Mayfair district.

The altercation allegedly took place in 2023 and involved the use of a tequila bottle as a weapon, according to prosecutors.

He was arrested last week in Salford and had remained in custody after an initial bail request was denied on Friday.

However, during a hearing on Wednesday at Southwark Crown Court, bail was granted on the condition that Brown pay £4 million upfront, with an additional £1 million to follow within seven days.

The Grammy-winning artist, known for chart-topping hits like Loyal, Run It, and Under the Influence, did not appear in court for the hearing.

The judge, Tony Baumgartner, outlined strict bail conditions, including that Brown must surrender his passport whenever not traveling for his tour.

He is also barred from contacting the alleged victim, from visiting the nightclub in question, and from applying for new international travel documents.

Importantly, the court permitted him to proceed with his multi-country tour, which starts in Amsterdam on June 8.

Brown is scheduled to perform in major cities such as Manchester, London, Cardiff, Birmingham, and Glasgow throughout June and July.

His next court appearance is slated for June 20 — between performances at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The legal proceedings also involve Brown’s co-defendant, 38-year-old Omololu Akinlolu, a fellow U.S. citizen who performs under the stage name HoodyBaby.

Both are expected to appear at the June court session.

This isn’t the first time Chris Brown’s career has been overshadowed by legal controversies.

He has a history of high-profile legal troubles, most notably his 2009 felony conviction for assaulting fellow musician Rihanna, his then-girlfriend.

Despite these setbacks, Brown has maintained a strong global fan base and continues to sell out major concert venues.
