Ghanaian international Christopher Bonsu Baah has expressed his admiration for former Black Stars captain and all-time top scorer Asamoah Gyan, disclosing how he would have loved to play alongside the iconic striker.
The 20-year-old KRC Genk winger made his full international debut for Ghana during the Unity Cup in May, where he played full throttle against West African rivals, Nigeria in the "Jollof Derby," the semi final game before playing again in the third-place playoff game against Trinidad and Tobago which Ghana won by 4-0 to clinch the third place of the friendly tournament.
Before his official debut, he had caught the eye of the Black Stars technical team after his heroics with his club with with the season under review, earning him a call up earlier for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers double header against Chad and Madagascar. Though he didn’t feature in those games, he kept the belief until he was given the opportunity at the Unity Games in May, where left a strong impression and an indelible mark with his impressive performances in the friendly tournament.
Speaking to 3Sports, Bonsu Baah shared his utmost desire to partner Gyan on the pitch as he voiced out his long time admiration for the former Black Stars captain.
“For me, I would say Asamoah Gyan,” he said when asked which Ghanaian great he would have wanted to play with. “Because we all love to play with him. His style of play, I can give him a lot of balls to score, and I can also get assists.”
Gyan remains Ghana’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals, and his incredible influence continues to linger and resonate with the new generation of Black Stars players.
