Ghanaian International, Christopher Baah Bonsu uncovers his feelings on how his Black Stars debut went in the just ended Unity Cup in London where he dazzled and became one of the standout performers in the tournament, rubbing shoulders with even eventual winners as one of the players that deserved to lift the trophy after a superb outing.
Bonsu made the 23-man squad for the four-nation tournament, where Ghana finished third after thumping Caribbean nation, Trinidad and Tobago in a 4-0 win to clinch the third place in the competition on Saturday, May 31.
The talented winger made the Black Stars squad for the most recent competitive international outing, the World Cup qualifying games in March, where he became one of the newest players to join the squad but failed to get minutes in the double header. It was only a matter of time that he would be able to exhibit his potential.
during the tournament, the former Shooting Stars star gave Black Stars coach Otto Addo more options in attack, cutting through lines and making productive and progressive runs down the right side of attack with his immense pace and power as well as his ball-carrying prowess.
Despite failing to find the back of the net in the matches against Nigeria and Trinidad and Tobago, Bonsu Baah became a pivotal figure in Ghana’s performance as they finished third place.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM, the KRC Genk winger shared his delight to have made the Black Stars squad for the Unity Cup and also making his debut in the tournament.
“It was a great feeling getting call up into the national team. The call up means a lot to me as a young player. Ghana is blessed with so many talents, so to make the recent squad means I am doing something good” he said.
Bonsu becme a revelation for the Black Stars in the Unity Cup and has been able to catch the eyes of so many people, with the masses asking for him to be the perfect candidate to handle the team’s right wing henceforth.
Bonsu Baah will be in contention for a place in the squad again in September’s World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
