The games continued again on Monday, June 16 with UEFA Conference League winners, Chelsea FC kickstarting their journey in the tourney with a crucial win over Los Angeles FC with a 2-0 win.
It continued with Argentinian side, Boca Juniors playing out in a heated opening group game against Portuguese outfit, SL Benfica, which saw both teams finishing the game on a 2-2 draw and a red card apiece.
On Tuesday, May 17, Brazilian outfit Flamengo RJ won a convincing victory over Tunisian big wigs Esperance de Tunis by 2-0 to gran their first win alongside Chelsea in Group C.
Fifa has made it clear for the records that every the winner of the tournament will be awarded up to US$125 million, marking a significant increase in financial rewards compared to previous editions.
A win in the Group stage attracts an amount of $2M for a club and also $1M for each club who plays out in a draw.
