In the lead-up to Ghana's highly anticipated opening game in the TotalEnergies AFCON U23 tournament, Coach Ibrahim Tanko has shared some important updates on team news and preparations.

The tournament is set to commence on Saturday, June 24, 2023.

Ghana's delegation arrived in Rabat on Wednesday, and they wasted no time in getting down to business.

The team has been diligently holding training sessions to fine-tune their skills and strategies ahead of their clash against Congo on Sunday, June 25, 2023.

Coach Tanko expressed his satisfaction with the team's recent training camp, which included two friendly matches. One game resulted in a victory, while the other ended in a draw. These matches provided valuable opportunities for the players to showcase their abilities, and according to the coach, the team is in excellent form.

"We had a very good training camp with two friendly games. We won one and drew one. I think the team is in very good shape and the players have improved very well. We used different set of players in the two friendly matches because we want to give everyone a chance to show what they can do in the tournament.  I am very impressed with the second team that played against Zamalek and I believe we can form a good side for our first game and for the tournament. We are here with 26 players so we have to give everyone the chance to show what they can do in the tournament. So far all of them have shown that if given the chance they can do well in the tournament."

During the friendly matches, Coach Tanko purposefully utilized different sets of players, aiming to give everyone a chance to shine in the tournament. He expressed his admiration for the second team's performance against Zamalek, highlighting their potential and the depth of talent within the squad.
