Minority Chief Whip, Muntaka Mubarak has dared controversial New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong to face him on the floor of parliament.

His comments comes after Mr. Agyapong called  him “dumb” for referring him to Parliament’s Privileges Committee over purported insults on Friday.

Speaking to journalists in Parliament yesterday on the issue, the outspoken MP expressed his readiness to appear before the Privileges Committee because he has enormous respect for the House.

He, however, took on the minority whip and Member of Parliament for Asawase, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka for asking in Parliament to haul him before Privileges Committee over the matter.

According to the Assin Central MP, the minority chief whip is a ‘dumb’ MP because he did not listen to the tape very well before asking Parliament to drag him before the Privileges Committee.

Before Friday’s comments, Kennedy Agyapong is reported to have described the House as “useless” for having Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu as its Majority leader on Accra-based Net2 TV, which belongs to the Assin Central MP.

These comments compelled Muntaka Mubarak to file a motion to refer Kennedy Agyapong to Parliament’s Privileges Committee.

Speaking on Eyewitness News, the Asawase MP said: “if he [Kennedy Agyapong] thinks he is a man, he should just meet me on the Floor of Parliament and try to be rude towards me, and the whole world will hear us.”

“I grew up in the jungle where every day we wrestle. I can’t come to Accra and be afraid of anybody. Not even somebody like Hon. [Kennedy Agyapong].”

“You know how we behave in the Zongo… you don’t cheat but you don’t allow anybody to cheat you. You don’t start the fight but you don’t allow anybody to bring it to you and walk away.”

Muntaka Mubarak further derided his fellow MP describing him as a man only defined by his money.

“This ultimately meant Kennedy Agyapong was empty,” Muntaka Mubarak added.

“That’s a rude person because everything he has is about money. When all you have on this earth is money, then you are very poor. He is a very poor person, but he doesn’t know… Walk to the street and ask the ordinary person whether they see him with any value. All he has his only money. He has nothing.”
