Ghanaian defender Comfort Yeboah, who plays for Ampem Darkoa Ladies, missed out on the CAF Women's Young Player of the Year award.

The award was won by Nesryne El Chad from Morocco, making her the first recipient of this accolade. The announcement was made at the 2023 CAF Awards ceremony held in Marrakech on Monday.

Nesryne El Chad's historic win is attributed to her exceptional talent and contributions during Morocco's Women's World Cup campaign.

She played a crucial role in Morocco's journey to the last 16, starting in every match and even assuming the captain's armband on several occasions.

El Chad's achievements include being the youngest-ever scorer for both Morocco and the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

While Comfort Yeboah didn't secure the award, her nomination was seen as well-deserved, considering her outstanding performances for Ampem Darkoa both domestically and internationally.

She had showcased her skills at the recent CAF Women's Champions League, contributing to Ampem Darkoa's success in the competition.

This nomination marked the first time Yeboah had been recognized for a prestigious award, reflecting her impact in women's football.
