Chief of Kumawu in the Ashanti region Barima Tweneboah Koduah has bemoaned the government’s inability to complete the hospital project despite numerous appeals.

According to him he is troubled by the uncompleted hospital project although government is currently reconstructing their roads but the stalled hospital project is his priority and wants decisive action by the government to address it.

Speaking in an interview with Joy News, the aggrieved chief reminded the president of the republic about the number of times the queen mother and himself have called on him regarding the hospital project.

“Remind the President I told him about the issue of our hospital when I came to the Jubilee House and he assured me it will be addressed my queen mother has called several times but to no avail.

“All residents of Kumawu presently need is a hospital although we acknowledge the presence of earth moving machines to start the road reconstruction but our priority is the stalled hospital project which has been taking over by weeds.”

“The president cites other hospitals at functions but forgets to talk about the Kumawu hospital, the health minister has been her I think July 11tth and promised the project will be resumed in three weeks’ time but nothing has happened since then. “

“When the President wanted power he came to this palace and begged for our votes and we poured libation in support of his bid and since he got it power has abandoned us.”

“The place is over grown with weeds and I will lead my elders and people to do a communal labour there by weeding the place

“I want the President to know I have sleepless nights about the uncompleted hospital project”

“If by 2020 he has done nothing about it, I only have one vote the rest is for the people to decide as for the queen mother and myself we only have two votes and we already know where our votes will go” he concluded.

The 120 bed capacity Sekyere Kumawu hospital facility which was started under the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama regime has been stalled left overgrown with weeds.

The hospital when completed will contain a theatre, recovery unit, medical, Surgical and emergency wards.

Other hospital projects that have been left wasting away unattended to include Fomena in the Ashanti region, Sekondi in the Western region, Abetifi in the Eastern region, Dodowa in the Greater Accra region and Timpani in the Upper East region.
