The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, is buoyant and bullish about his party’s prospects of sealing the December 7 general elections.

He has therefore charged President Akufo-Addo to concede defeat by humbly placing a call to his political foe to congratulate him since results collated by their party indicate that their flagbearer, Mr. John Dramani Mahama is the winner.

"He [President Nana Addo] should call His Excellency John Mahama and congratulate him,” he said at the third in the series of press conferences held by the opposition party after Monday's polls.

Ghanaians went to the polls on Monday, December 7, 2020, to cast their ballot to elect a President and 275 Members of Parliament. In what could perhaps pass for an overwhelming skirt and blouse voting pattern, some notable constituencies opted to back President Akufo-Addo in the presidentional polls but switch allegiance to parliamentary candidates drawn from the opposition side.

Addressig the media on Tuesday afternoon, General Mosquito stated that the NDC has slain several giants of the ruling party and the scale of their victory alone is a harbinger of the return of the biggest opposition party to government.

Warning of severe repercussions should the Electoral Commission attempt to deliberately delay the announcing of certified results, he charged the international community to impress on the electoral body to ensure that its collated results are accurate and a true reflection of the will of the people.

“We are not going to sit down for the EC to compile so many figures. Our officers from the national collation center have informed us about the results already...We are calling on the international community to warn the EC that any false step will come along with serious consequences,” Mr Asideu Nketia warned.
