Concerned Women Ghana (CWG) expressed disappointment at journalist Mugabe Masse for attacking  UTV's Afia Pokua, popularly called "vim lady".

Mugabe, who is a host at Power FM in Accra, is being condemned for challenging the former adom FM presenter to use her "vim to get married."

It comes just few days after ace TV presenter at GHOne TV,  Nana Aba Anamoah was attacked in a similar fashion by a communication director of the NPP in UK, Nana Ansah Obofuor.

Mugabe won the 2018/19 Talk Show host

In what it describes as "emulating Nana Ansah Obofuor's bad behavior," the CWG has urged the award winning journalist to apologise to the lady.

Vim lady is reported to have criticised the the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for running a family and friends' government, a statement that precipitated a harsh response from Mugabe.

Vim lady is reported to have said former President Mahama's brother Ibrahim was more than a vice president,

But a statement signed by CWG convenor Annette Enyo, has chided the continous usage of  "marriage as the firearm to cow women into silence" in the country.

"It is becoming a convention for men in this country to use marriage as a weapon to cow women with strong voices into silence," the statement read.

"It is disappointing on Mugabe's part as a journalist to jump thoe issues and attack Afia Pokua's person using marriage as the firearm."

Just as the CWG pulled Nana Ansah Obofuor to eat a humble pie, the CWG says, it is offering a "free, generous and spontaneous advice to Mugabe to do the needful and apologise to his colleague journalist," adding that "As women group, we will rise to the defense of our women who are subjected to such uncouth attacks especially by people who ought to know better".

PRESS STATEMENT

*CONCERNED WOMEN, GHANA (CWG)*

WE CONDEMN MUGABE MAASE FOR EMULATING NANA ANSAH OBOFUOR'S BAD BEHAVIOR

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is becoming a convention for men in this country to use marriage as a weapon to cow women with strong voices into silence.

The latest to join the bandwagon just when CWG had petitioned the Gender Minister over Nana Ansah Obofuor, is Mugabe Maase of Power FM.

The imprudence of it all is that these utterances are coming from people who ought to know better.

It is disappointing on Mugabe's part as a journalist to jump the issues and attack Afia Pokua's person using marriage as the firearm.

We unreservedly condemn Mugabe's comments and offer him free, generous and spontaneous advice to do the needful and apologise to his colleague journalist.
If he can criticise, so can Vim Lady.

The counteractions are not our concerns but the language used mandates us as women to come to the defense of a fellow woman.

Your intention of cowing her into silence will not add to the ailing economy. Your focus as tax payer should be on whether or not your money is being used to your benefit and not on Vim Lady.

As women group, we will rise to the defense of our women who are subjected to such uncouth attacks especially by people who ought to know better.

We stand with Vim Lady.

Regards!

Convener
