One man's meat is another man's poison, they say but former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bantama Constituency in Ashanti Region, Henry Kwabena Kokofu, has advised all Chinese citizens to stop eaten frogs and other meats which may be environmentally unfriendly.

His comments come after news went viral Thursday morning that the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has recorded two cases suspected to be coronavirus in the country. The case involved two young men, a Chinese and an Argentine who leave together in the capital, Accra.

According to Hon Kokofu, some of the animals we consume as humans are harmful to the environment and pose a lot of danger to the human body.

Speaking on 'Kokrokoo' on Peace FM, monitored by Ghanaguardian.com, Mr. Kokoku explained that many animals naturally produce venoms, toxins, and poisons to defend themselves and incapacitate their prey, while others accumulate toxins from the food they eat.

"...I heard that two suspected cases have been reported at Korle Bu and only hoping the results will come out to be negative. However, I want to advise our Chinese brothers who eat frogs and any meat they come across to have a second look. Some of the animals like frog have poison glands which pose a lot of danger to humans", Kokofu said on the flagship show hosted by Kwame Sefa Kayi.

Mr. Kokofu also said the government should consider evacuating Ghanaian nationals in China, especially students over the deadly virus.

He also advised Ghanaians to rush to any nearby health centre whenever they see any signs of the disease.

A total of 73 people died from the virus on Wednesday alone, recording another record daily increase in fatalities, China's National Health Commission said on Thursday.

The death toll from the coronavirus outbreak in mainland China has risen to 563 as the government rushed to build new hospitals.
