The two ongoing court cases involving Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, have been adjourned to November 12 and December 4, 2025, respectively.
In the first case, which concerns allegations that Wontumi permitted mining operations on his Samreboi concession without the necessary approval, the court adjourned the hearing to November 12 after the prosecution requested more time to serve the defense with all required disclosures.
The second case, which accuses Wontumi of carrying out mining activities within the Tano Nimire Forest Reserve without authorization, has been postponed to December 4 due to the presiding judge being on leave.
Meanwhile, the Attorney General’s Department has withdrawn charges against Edward Akuoko, the General Manager of Akonta Mining, a company owned by Wontumi. Akuoko will now serve as a prosecution witness in the ongoing cases.
