An Accra Human Rights Court has dismissed a suit challenging the Electoral Commission from charging journalists for accreditation to cover the 2016 elections.

The suit was filed at the Court after the election management body demanded accreditation fee from journalists who wish to cover the December 7 polls.

But the court presided over by Justice Gifty Agyei-Addo on Tuesday, November 29, dismissed the writ paving the way for the EC to go ahead and charge fees for accreditation.

According to the court, the case, filed by lawyer Nana Oppong the president of the International Standard Journalists failed to invoke the proper jurisdiction of the court.

A cost of GHc3, 000 was awarded against the applicant.

Meanwhile, Daily Heritage's Mutalla Inusah reports that Nana Oppong has filed a fresh application in his personal capacity which has been adjourned to Wednesday, November 30.
