Former Ghana and Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien is facing significant financial trouble as two of his properties in East Legon and Trasaaco are set to be auctioned.

According to a report by Daily Guide, the Deputy Sheriff of the Accra High Court (Commercial Division) issued an order on June 12 for the sale of these properties.

Essien, who now coaches at FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark after an illustrious playing career, owns the properties located on Stephen Quarshie Crescent in East Legon and another in the upscale Trasaaco area.

One of the properties is reportedly valued at almost $30 million.

Details regarding the cause of the auction remain unclear, and it is not confirmed whether this situation arises from a legal dispute.

Michael Essien began his professional career in the Ghana Premier League before moving to France, where he played for Bastia and then Lyon.

In 2005, Chelsea made him their record signing with a £24.4 million transfer fee. During his time at Stamford Bridge, Essien helped the club win two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, and the UEFA Champions League in 2012.

After his tenure at Chelsea, Essien had brief stints with Real Madrid and AC Milan before ending his playing career with Azerbaijani side Sabail FK.

Despite his successful career, Essien now faces an uncertain situation with the impending auction of his properties.
