Dada K.D's funeral date rescheduled again
5th September 2025
The final funeral rites of the late highlife legend Dada Kwaku Duah, popularly known as Dada K.D has been rescheduled by his family following another rescheduling.
Originally planned for August 16, 2025, and later shifted to September 6, the state-assisted burial will now be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Forecourt of the State House, Accra.
A family representative explained that the change was necessary due to a ban on funerals in the Ashanti Region, imposed by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to ensure the successful performance of the final funeral rites for the late Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, on September 18, 2025.
“It is not our intention to reschedule, but traditions are traditions, and we cannot go against them. We need to change the date until after the royal funeral on September 18. So, we have pushed ours to September 20, no longer the 6th,” the family representative said.
Preparations and the venue for the burial remain unchanged. A final thanksgiving service will follow on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Agona Asamang in the Ashanti Region, the hometown of the late musician.
Dada K.D., celebrated for highlife classics such as Fatia Fata Nkrumah, So mu gye and Ewurade Ye M’ade, passed away on May 17, 2025, after a short illness.
He was 54 years old.
He leaves behind five children and a rich musical legacy that has left an indelible mark on Ghana’s highlife tradition.
