A brewing dispute has erupted over the burial arrangements of Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, after his wife and children filed an injunction to stop the scheduled funeral and burial.
The legal wife of the late musician, Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh, and her children say they were completely left out of discussions surrounding the funeral, which had been set for Saturday, 6 December 2025.
In a statement issued on Thursday, 9 October 2025, the family said they were stunned to learn about the funeral date through social media, accusing Abusuapanyin Kofi Wusu and the funeral committee of acting without consultation.
“It is deeply upsetting to discover your husband’s funeral plans on social media. The actions of the committee show total disregard for the rights and wishes of Daddy Lumba’s immediate family,” the statement said.
The family accused the funeral planners of deliberately sidelining them in all arrangements following the musician’s death. They argued that such conduct was not only disrespectful but also contrary to both cultural values and legal obligations.
The statement further revealed that Daddy Lumba was legally married to Mrs. Fosuh in Bornheim, Germany, on 23 December 2004 — a marriage recognized under German law, which does not permit multiple unions.
The family stressed that they have taken legal action to suspend all funeral and burial activities until there is proper communication and agreement between the parties involved.
“Due to the confusion and lack of coordination, we have secured a court injunction to suspend all planned funeral activities until further notice,” they noted.
Expressing gratitude to fans for their overwhelming love and concern, the family urged the public to disregard any unofficial announcements regarding the funeral until an official resolution is reached.
