In addition to the provision of quality cement at affordable prices, Dangote Cement is the largest employer in the cement industry in Ghana, only six and half years after moving into the Ghanaian market, Komla Buami, Media Relations Officer for Dangote Cement, has said.

According to him, the company currently employs more than 2000 workers who are paid monthly salaries together with other statutory payments.

Speaking in an interview with Moro Awudu on the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on Class91.3FM on Thursday February 2, Mr Buami said: “We are not in competition with anybody in Ghana, we are actually leading the competition. We dictate the pace for the others to follow.

“The first thing you need to consider in the purchase of cement is the quality of cement you are buying. Today in Ghana, the good news is that we have all been told that there are different grades of cement.

“We (Dangote) have introduced the highest grade of cement onto the Ghanaian market. There are times in the past that we could not control how much cement was sold on the Ghanaian market but today, for a long time, the prices of cement have been well stabilised on the Ghanaian market and so that is also very good news for the end user.

“So the point we are making is that yes, we are in Ghana to ensure that the end user becomes the beneficiary of whatever happens in the cement industry, it is also important to know that at Dangote, as we speak today, just about six and half years of operations in Ghana, we are the largest employer in the cement industry here in Ghana.

“We have well over 2000 people who always take salary from our payroll and that is also a major contribution to the economy of Ghana.

“All in all, our presence on the Ghanaian market is good, many people are seeing our presence on the market, the quality, and they are getting this quality at a very competitive price.”
