Many might have forgotten that Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey still play for Brendan Rodgers' high flying Leicester City after his lack of action since returning from a long term injury.

Despite his full recovery from injury the 24 year old Ghanaian defender is yet to play a single minute this season as Bremdan Rodgers prefers Turlish International Caglar Soyuncu and veteran Jonny Evans as his centre back pair with club captain Wes Morgan and Filip Bencovic on the bench waiting in the wings.

But Amartey may soon be rescued from the cold with a lone move to Newcastle in January being mooted as it will suit both parties.

The Magpies will need extra bodies for cover in their thin squad as they battle relegation this season.

Amartey was not even on the bench when Leicester thrashed Luton Town 4-0 in the EFL Cup last month a competition normally reserved for fringe players by most coaches meaning the 24 year old Ghanaian may not be in the plans of manager Brendan Rodgers.

Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce whiles in the Championship last year tried to sign the Ghanaian and his availability may interest him with the only issue being their lack of cash so may have to take the versatile player on loan.

The former Fc Copenhagen player can play at Centre back right full back and also in central midfield as a defensive midfielder and his versatility may greatly appeal to a struggling Newcastle United side.
