Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea has been named as one of the 18 Video Assistant Referees (VAR) for the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia in 2023. This announcement was made by the FIFA Referees Committee on September 26, 2023.
Daniel Laryea, a highly regarded FIFA referee with nine years of experience both locally and internationally, joins 10 other African referees and assistant referees who will officiate at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia.
The selected referees and assistant referees will undergo comprehensive preparations before the tournament. These preparations will cover various aspects of officiating, including game analysis, teamwork, and positioning to make accurate decisions.
Prior to the tournament's start, the match officials will participate in a final preparation seminar, which will include reviewing and analyzing video clips of real-match situations and engaging in practical training sessions with players. These sessions will be filmed to provide instant feedback from instructors.
The FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia 2023 is scheduled to take place from November 10 to December 2, 2023.
