Dr. Justice Moses Aheto, a lecturer at the University of Ghana says Osu Castle which was believed to have been used Asta training ground for De-Eye group, the alleged militia group affiliated to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), is indirectly a security zone.

According to him, it is interesting to hear the defensive mechanism of the government that the Osu Castle is no longer a security zone,  but rather a "normal place" for everybody to visit without any protocol checks.

Speaking on Radio Gold's "Alhaji and Alhaji" political show, Dr. Aheto insisted that the place used to house the late former President John Evans Atta Mills before 2013, and added that even some appointees of the current administration operates from the Osu Castle.

"...for sure I know they are using the Castle as a annex because some of the guys who could not find space at the Jubilee house are now located at the Castle, and so indirectly what it means is that the Castle is still a security zone and for that matter it means no-go zone", he indicated.

He pontificated that " if anybody wants to visit that place, the person needs to go through the normal protocol; I'm not sure if I get to the Castle right now I will just be allowed to drive through the gate or pack my car and walk inside without being thoroughly checked".

To him, therefore, the explanation by the ruling government to Manasseh's exposé, that the state is no more using the Castle as a security zone and thus "it is now like a normal place and so there is nothing security about that area" smacks of attempts to belittle the intelligence of Ghanaians.

"Nothing has moved out of the Castle apart from human beings leaving that place and so when they come to tell us that the Castle is no longer a security zone, then some of us begin to actually continue with our objection that the government is trying so hard to play on the intelligence of the people of Ghana," he argued.
