A devastating multi-vehicle collision on the N1 highway near the Fiesta Royale Hotel in Accra has left two people dead and 19 others injured, triggering an emergency response from rescue services on Monday evening.

The crash involved a Kia motor truck with registration number GG 1304-18, a Sprinter bus (GX 8325-13), and a Volvo trailer (GT 7856-20).

The impact of the collision was severe, causing significant damage and disrupting traffic along the busy stretch of road.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service, a distress call was received at exactly 7:58 p.m.

Firefighters and rescue personnel were swiftly dispatched and arrived at the scene by 8:14 p.m. Despite their rapid response, two victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Nineteen others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were promptly transported to Achimota Hospital and the 37 Military Hospital for medical treatment.

Emergency teams worked alongside other responders to secure the accident site, prevent further incidents, and clear the roadway to restore the flow of traffic.

The cause of the accident is yet to be established, with investigations currently underway to determine the circumstances leading to the collision.

In a statement, the Ghana National Fire Service expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished those injured a speedy recovery.

The Service also appealed to motorists to exercise caution on the roads, adhere strictly to traffic regulations, and prioritize safety to help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
