Financial institutions across the country have sent notifications to customers that their banking halls will be closed earlier than usual on Wednesday due to the general elections.

Ghana heads to the polls to elect a president and parliamentarians to govern the country for the next four years and most banks will have only their Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) working after mid-day.

GCB Bank Limited said its banking halls “will be working from 8am to 12noon, but all other alternatives will be fully functional”.

For Barclays Bank, its branches across the country “will close at 1pm on Wednesday 7 December”. They have advised their customers to use their ATMs and digital banking services for any transactions.

uniBank also indicated: “Banking halls will close to the general public at 12pm on Wednesday, 7 December 2016. However, the ATMs will be fully functional.”

Investment firm Databank has also issued a public notice that its “offices will close at 1pm on Wednesday, Dec 7, 2016” and wished the Ghanaian electorate peaceful elections.
