The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has condemned the attack on Minister of Monitoring and Evaluation, Dr Akoto Osei, by pro-NPP vigilante group, Delta Force, at a function at Tafo-Pankrono in the Ashanti Region over the weekend.

In a press release issued by Mr Sammy Awuku, National Organiser of the NPP, said on Tuesday, 9 October 2018; “The action of the young men is highly unacceptable, unjustifiable and unfortunate regardless of their reasons,”

Describing the actions of the Delta Force members as unwarranted, the statement pointed out that: “The use of force and violence, particularly in internal party matters, is alien to the tenets of the New Patriotic Party and should have no place among us, especially under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who has been a strong advocate of the rule of law”.

The party further entreated the security agencies to bring the perpetrators to book and called on its leadership to take measures to forestall the lawless actions of the vigilante group.

“We call on the security agencies to deal decisively with this case without fear or favour. The party is equally putting in place measures to ensure that we nip these acts of violence in our internal party activities, in the bud. We warn any group of persons who might be harbouring any of such intentions to advise themselves, since the party will not tolerate such behaviour and will cooperate with the police as we have always done,” the statement added.
