Abu Dhabi: Syria are the latest team to have arrived for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019, with Bernd Stange's squad touching down in Abu Dhabi late on Monday.

Syria, drawn in Group B, are determined to make an impact in the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 after their 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia adventure, where they came within two matches of advancing to the Inter-Continental Playoff.

It was a remarkable achievement as Syria had played all their home matches in neutral venues and Stange has said the experience gained will benefit the squad as they prepare to face defending champions Australia, Palestine and Jordan in Group B.

The meeting against Australia will be a repeat of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Continental Playoff, which the Socceroos won before going on to seal a place in the Finals.

Syria open their UAE 2019 campaign against Palestine on January 6 and then play Jordan four days later. Their match against Australia is on January 15.
