Professor Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, the Head of History and Political Studies at KNUST, has outlined strategic approaches that Dr. Bawumia must employ to win the hearts of Ghanaian voters in the upcoming 2024 elections.
The current government, led by Akufo-Addo and Bawumia, has faced severe criticism for its mismanagement of the country's economy, resulting in hardships for the Ghanaian people
Despite this criticism, the NPP remains confident in their ability to secure victory in the next election with Dr. Bawumia as their presidential candidate.
However, Professor Adu-Gyamfi acknowledges that breaking the eight-year cycle of political power is a challenging task for the NPP.
During an interview on Oyerepa TV, Professor Adu-Gyamfi suggested that if Dr. Bawumia wishes to lead the NPP to victory, he should openly criticize and distance himself from the current administration led by Nana Addo.
By doing so, Dr. Bawumia can demonstrate his independence and commitment to addressing the concerns of the Ghanaian people, thereby increasing his chances of winning their support in the upcoming elections.
“Bawumia must let Akufo-Addo feel bad about his own government. If possible he should stop talking to him and do his own politics for Ghanaians to know the Bawumia he was, the Bawumia he is,” Prof Adu-Gyamfi stated.
The lecturer emphasized that the year 2024 will pose challenges for Bawumia, as the NDC will not make it easy for him. Consequently, Bawumia bears the responsibility of demonstrating his distinctiveness from Akufo-Addo.
Professor Adu-Gyamfi stated that if Bawumia successfully implements all of his recommendations, the NPP, under his leadership, will have the potential to force the 2024 elections into a run-off and ultimately secure victory.
