Douglas Owusu shines on Red Star debut in away win over Cukaricki
2nd February 2026
Ghanaian forward Douglas Owusu made an encouraging start to life at Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade, featuring in a 3-1 away victory over FK Cukaricki in the Mozzart SuperLiga.
Owusu, who recently joined Red Star from fellow top-flight side Radnick FC, was handed his official debut and played his part in a convincing performance that underlined his growing reputation in Serbian football.
The match also carried a Ghanaian subplot, with Owusu coming up against compatriot Emmanuel Dzigbah, who turned out for Cukaricki. Red Star, however, proved too strong on the day, asserting control and securing all three points on the road.
Owusu’s move to Belgrade followed an impressive spell at Radnick FC, where he scored seven league goals this season, form that attracted the attention of the country’s most decorated club.
While he did not find the net on debut, the 23-year-old showed energy and composure, offering a glimpse of what he could bring as Red Star push for domestic success and aim to make an impact in Europe.
For Owusu, the debut marks a significant step forward in his career, and the beginning of a new chapter at one of the Balkans’ most storied clubs.
