Former Vice President of Ghana and Flagbearer of the opposition party at the 2024 Ghanaian General Elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed his delight over Mohammed Kudus' imminent move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Premier League club on Wednesday, July 9 2025 agreed on a £55 million deal to sign the Ghana international from West Ham United after a protracted negotiation where it finally got a compromise after West Ham had his release clause set at £85M for the transfer window.

The 24-year-old is set to undergo his medicals in the coming days and is set to append his signature on a deal of a six-year duration with the North London side.

With the move now imminent, Dr Bawumia, in a message shared on X (formerly Twitter),  expressed his excitement about the transfer.

“I am excited to see our Ghanaian starboy make this move to my Spurs. All the best in your medical, Mohammed Kudus,” Dr. Bawumia wrote.

The former prestigious Right To Dream Academy graduate  joined the Hammers in 2023 in a £38 million move from Ajax Amsterdam and made an immediate impact, contributing to eight(8) goals and six(6) assists in the English Premier League, as well as five(5) goals  in the UEFA Europa League in his debut campaign.

Notwithstanding the fact that his subsequent season at the London outfit went unsuccessful compared to the previous campaign, the former FC Nordsjaelland star’s individual brilliance and ability went unnoticed, catching the eyes of Spurs new head coach, Thomas frank to make the signing of the Ghanaian a priority as he begins the new era at North London— snapping up Kudus appears to be the first of the former Brentford manager’s tenure at the club.

Kudus’ current contract with West Ham runs until 2028 and includes a release clause that became active in the first 10 days of July: £80 million for non-English clubs, £85 million for Premier League rivals, and £120 million for Saudi Arabian sides.

As Tottenham prepare for a return to the prestigious UEFA Champions League competition, Kudus is expected to bring in vital European experience into the squad, having previously impressed on the continental stage with Ajax where he performed extremely well.
