Former Minister of Youth and Sports Dr Mustapha Ahmed has suggested to Mayor of East Orange, New Jersey, TED Green to visit Ghana.

The former MP for Ayawaso North capitalised on a private visit to the Mayor to market the country’s industrialisation plan.

He was among an eight-member deligation to pay a courtesy call on the Mayor at his office at 44 City Hall Plaza.

The Ghanaian contingent had met with the Mayor to introduce to him a newly installed Chief Imam for the Bissa people living in New Jersey.

It however turned to be a proxy bilateral discussion between the Ghanaian stateman and America Mayor.

Touching on the significance of their visit, Dr. Mustapha Ahmed, who also served as Minister of State under the Mahama administration,  hailed Mayor Green for his exceptional leadership qualities and urged him to make available time to visit Ghana.

"There are a lot of developmental relationships to benefit both administrations," he said.

Dr Mustapha Ahmed was a member of Parliament for Ayawaso East and North for 16 years on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress.

He held several ministerial positions between 2009 to 2016 under NDC regime of Professor Atta Mills and John Mahama.

He has played an active role in the developmental agenda of the Bissa people and Ghana at large.

His call on Mayor Green to visit Ghana comes in support of the current Goverment's agenda to have Afro-Americans visit Ghana, at least once a year.

Mustapha Ahmed ( Former Member of parliament for East Ayawaso constituency, and former Minister for Youth and Sports) Sheikh Jamal Gambo ( imam from New York , Mount Hope Masjid Bronx NY), and  Mr.  Mustapha Berchahema Ahmed Junior.

Other were Sister Beatrice Saahene ( A representative from the Ashanti community and President of Beautiful Hearts We care NJ. ) and Mr.Barima Kwadjo Adu  (A representative from the Ashanti community and senior Secretary of Beautiful Hearts We care NJ).

Mayor Green

Mayor Green, on the hand, has been active in East Orange political and civic affairs for over 25 years. On January 1, 2006, Ted Green was sworn in as a member of the East Orange City Council representing the Third Ward — a major milestone in a career that has been dedicated to public service.

As Third Ward Councilman, Ted Green served as Chairman of Business and Development for the City, and on January 1, 2015, he was elected as the Chairman of the East Orange City Council, a position he held for two years. While on City Council, Mayor Green effectively served as a member of every standing committee including Liaison to the Mayor, the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the New Jersey Legislature, the United States Congress, the East Orange Parking Authority, the Board of School Estimates, the Personnel Committee and Negotiations Team.

On January 1, 2018, Ted Green was sworn in as the 14th Mayor of the City of East Orange after winning an overwhelming 96% of the vote.
