The Deputy Eastern Regional Organizer of the biggest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Hackman Kabore has said that the immediate past Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Dr. Stephen K. Opuni, contributed significantly to NDC's defeat in the 2016 polls.

Dr. Opuni, who was recently directed by the presidency to hand over to the president's representative at the ministry of Agriculture, has been accused of not connecting with members of the NDC thus contributing to voter apathy.

Speaking on Radio 1’s morning show host Osahene Kofi Owusu on Susubiribi, Hon. Hackman Kabore, insisted that Dr. Opuni caused the NDC’s defeat.

"How did we suffer our defeat; because apathy set in. People refused to go to the polls because  they were jobless, because they were suffering and Opuni refused to give them jobs as he refused to create employment for them," he alleged.

Hon. Kabore also accused the former COCOBOD CEO of ignoring people who were not within his circles, making it difficult to engage him on matters pertaining to policies.
