In the penultimate round of games in the 2024/2025 Italian Serie A season saw a rather dramatic turn of events at the Guiseppe Meazza in Milan and the Estadio Ennio Tardini in Parma as Inter Milan saw the Scudetto elude them right before their own eyes, whilst Napoli on the other hand, had a rather pulsating game at Parma as it ended in a goalless stalemate respectively.

Inter coach, Simone Inzaghi and his charges missed out on a chance to clinch a back-to-back Scudetti as Lazio held them to a devastating 2-2 draw, resulting in them taking just a point at home, leaving them on 2nd place with just a point away from current leaders, Napoli who are on 79 points. As it stands, Inter would have to rely on a possible UEFA Champions League glory as they will lock horns with French champions, PSG, on May 31 to test the waters and ultimately hope to not finish the season trophyless, as it is the only way out.

In the game, there were series of events that transpired where Inter coach, Simone Inzaghi, was shown a red card, when Inzaghi hit back at Marco Baroni, who appealed for a VAR check after a Yann Bisseck handball at minute 88.

And also in the Napoli game at Parma, their coach, Antonio Conte, saw red, resulting in both managers being suspended for their respective final games in the league. Furthermore, Marco Arnautovic, with just the thought of winning the game for Inter in the dying embers of the game, had his goal ruled out for offside after a VAR review.

However, Napoli, on the other hand, will be able to get the nod and be adjudged Serie A winners if they are able to beat Cagliari on the final day of the 2024/2025 Serie A season in a dramatic fashion. After the game, head coach Antonio Conte asserted that he would be delighted to win the Scudetto with Napoli: "Winning the league title with Napoli would be a reward for everything I've done. I've worked hard beyond expectations. I know I'm extremely tired, and I know I'll miraculously reach the end of the season. Here in Naples, the demands and expectations exceed the team's realistic capabilities."

In a rather coincidental fashion, Antonio Conte’s former player at Chelsea, Pedro Rodriguez became the thorn in Inter’s flesh as he was the one that scored both goals to bring the pulsating Inter vs Lazio game to a draw and to technically deny Inter the chance to be title winners— doing it for his former manager, one that made him win his first and only English Premiership title.
The 2024/2025 Serie A season will come to a close on Sunday, May 25, when 2nd-placed Inter will face off against Cesc Fabregas’ side, Como on the road, whilst current league leaders, Napoli, lock horns with 14th-placed Cagliari at home.
